One of the things that worked really well in our part of the world is using small wine barrels. We buy ours at the farm stall at Mooiberge on the R44 between Somerset West and Stellenbosch, sadly empty of wine (let have a moment of silence I mean surely it would be more eco friendly of us to just bypass the bottles altogether? But I digress sunny garden wall dotted with wine barrels has just yielded a good early spring crop of organic veggies and we have an ongoing supply of herbs: majoram, oregano, basil, lemon thyme, mint and chives. I hoping to harvest my first garlic soon.

Next up was a Sunday 9/10/17 visit to the city of Mulberry, Kansas where my Father In Law Bill Mapes grew up and where his father William R Mapes Sr and some of my Father In Law brothers worked (and one still does) for the Kansas City Southern Railroad. We had been invited to attend a birthday party at the home of Denise Aunt Connie Bright. While I was there, I visited a couple of local crossings (shown in pics below) but missed a couple of trains that came through.
